Building for the future
Construction progress continues with the complimentary, touchless car wash now being built near the parking exit plaza. The new car wash is scheduled to be completed in late November.
Spokane International Airport is nearing completion of the “2014 Taxiway Reconfiguration Project,” which included the construction of 3 new taxiways on the northwest side of Runway 3/21 as identified in the photo. The curved taxiways are called High-Speed Exits which allow aircraft to reach the gate area more efficiently.
The new Airfield Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) Station is nearly completed. Spokane International Airport must comply with specific ARFF operational requirements developed by the FAA. Because the current ARFF facility was constructed in 1978, the layout did not meet the current FAA Airport Circular and Fire Station design requirements. The new station allows for faster response to the existing runways and provides effective response to the future third runway from this location. Substantial Completion is scheduled for December, 2014.
